How long have you been at Chux? - I started at Chux when it was a small store on Noland Road. I have sold truck accessories for the past 20+ years.
What was your first truck? - My first truck was a 76 Chevy that I lifted 18” and had 44” tires on, I miss that old truck. I now drive a 2000 Jeep Cherokee with a 10” lift and 35’s on it….
What do you like about working at Chux? - I like the people I work with at Chux and I like the variety of people I get to help when they come in the store.
How did you get your start in automotive? - I got started in all this in High School. I took VoTech classes and then went to WyoTech to get some serious training.
What's your favorite vehicle?- I like about everything…Nissan’s, Lifted trucks, lowered cars, you name it.
What are you driving now?- I’m currently driving a 2004 Nissan 350Z that’s lowered with staggered fit 20’s, a body kit, 5 Axis wheels in 8.5” on the front and 10’s on the rear with Falken tires, an intake system, headers, plenum spacer and an exhaust system.
What's your dream car? - I love what I have but if I could drive anything, I’d want a Nissan GTR.
Any advice to customizing newbie's? - My best advice to someone starting out is “Get what you want the 1st time”. Regrets are expensive and you’ll never really be happy with what you drive if you end up “settling” for less.
How did you get your start in automotive? - I was never really into cars growing up. I liked the cool versions of the Hot Wheels cars as a kid, but wasn’t ever too excited about hot rods and custom cars/trucks. When I turned 16 and it was time for my first ride, that’s when it became evident that I would never again be OK with a “plain jane” sedan or base model vehicle.
What was your first vehicle?- My first car was a 1995 Chevy Beretta, which I fought my parents for until they gave in. While it may not be the most exciting car, it was the coolest thing I could find within the budget I was given. I went through several vehicles during the time that my parents were footing the bill. As soon as I was at a spot where I had my first good paying job, and could choose for myself what I was going to drive, I bought a 1998 Mustang V6 5 speed. When I sold it, it was lowered, had tinted windows, custom mounted Piaa’s in the air dam, a removed air silencer, and a stereo system. I did everything myself (with the help of my fellow enthusiast friends)
What are you driving now? - My current ride is a 2005 Chrysler 300C with the 5.7 Hemi which I have owned for 4 years. I have gone through various different wheel and tire combinations, have a modified cold air intake and exhaust, a remote start system, custom fit floor mats, Carbon Fibre vinyl overlay on much the dash, and a custom grille.
What do you enjoy most about working at Chux?- Chux Trux is great because we get the opportunity to stay on the cutting edge of what is new in the industry, and give advice to our customers on what they can do to accomplish whatever goal they are aiming for with regards to customizing their vehicle. We get the chance to sell products we like, and also the opportunity to do the installations, which gives all of us a sense of accomplishment and a greater appreciation of the finished project. We can find parts for many of the cars and trucks on the road, as well as help our customers solve problems they are dealing with on whatever project they themselves are working on.
Customizing is an art form, and everyone that does it has their own vision for what they would like to see done to their ride. We are here to answer questions, and to help make the right decision based on our extensive knowledge and experience. That in itself gives me the greatest sense of accomplishment of anything else we do.
How did you get your start in automotive? - My family started my love for cars. I've always enjoyed going over to my uncles house and drooling over the Cobra kit car he has been building since before I was born. My big brother Henry was big into the import scene and it jump started me into the Honda world where I slowly grew into Jeeps and various other import cars.
What was your first vehicle? - My first car was a 1993 Honda Del Sol S. It was a base model manual trans, manual steering only thing it had was Ac and a radio. Did a full audio install a loud fart can muffler and other first car teenage kid in a Honda mods. I still miss it to this day.
What is your dream car? - I have so many dream cars I would take up this whole page discussing them. I can never make up my mind from Ford Festivas to Lamborghini. I will say it has to have a soft top or a sunroof at the least.
What are you driving now? - Currently I'm driving my 1990 Mazda Miata that is built for competitive drifting at our events and other various events around the country. It has a full stripped out interior, Drift legal cage with door bars Sparco bucket seats, Drift Works harnesses and full custom suspension with Danny George extra angle knuckles custom extended rear upper arms and full Megan ez streets coils. It's a blast to drive with the welded diff lightweight flywheel, racing beat intake and custom straight pipe that makes it way to loud to drive on the streets but it gets better gas mileage than my Jeep so I still drive it on a regular basis. I also have a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee that is my daily driver/winter beater/trail beater. It's beat up dented and not the best looking but I'd be lying if it wasn't one of my favorite vehicles I've owned. It has a 2" Budget boost 15x8 Ultra Wheels and 31x.10.50x15s and a custom stinger bumper and light bar it will go anywhere I want it to.
What do you enjoy most about working at Chux? - Everything. If it has something to do with customizing a truck/car/van/scooter it brings a smile to my face and I love to spread the joy with our customers and help build their dreams.
How I got my start in automotive- My father owned a salvage yard while I was growing up, so I was always surrounded by cars and trucks. He would tell me stories of his past, between building hot rods when he was a teenager, to running moonshine out of the Tennessee hills in a powder blue '46 Ford Coupe in the 50's when he got back from Korea. I would work on his projects with him until I was old enough to start my own. He helped me build several custom vehicles before I even graduated high school. He is THE reason I got into customizing, lowering vehicles, and adjustable suspension.
My first vehicle- My first car was a 1972 Datsun 240Z. Followed fairly quickly by a 1982 Camaro Berlinetta, and then a 1972 Cuda.
My dream vehicle- I have two; a 1989 Mazda B2200 truck, airbagged and body dropped with an LS motor conversion, and a 1993 Mazda B2200 Ext cab 4x4, lifted with a solid axle swap and small block Chevy V8 engine. I want the 4x4 lifted up enough to park the bagged truck underneath.
What I am driving now- I currently drive a 1996 GMC Yukon lifted 3" with a custom roof rack and Bushwacker flares. I also have a 1991 Chevy S10 with a small block 350 V8 engine that I plan on airbagging and custom body work.
What I enjoy most about working at Chux- I love working at Chux Trux because of the atmosphere. We are all gearheads. I love seeing everyone that comes in with vastly different vehicles and vastly different ideas about how to make them cooler. I live and breathe custom cars and trucks and I feel honored to help someone make their dream a reality. I think we all want a vehicle that stands out in either a parking lot or a car show.
